Ace Hood opened up about his daughter’s death on “Hallucinations” from Starvation. “Feeling like I done been crucified/Haven’t been the same since my daughter died/Paranormal flourished in my state of mind/Kind of hard for me to orchestrate a fuckin’ rhyme/Last night I took some pain killers/And I became friends with a death dealer,” Ace rapped.
While at the We The Best Studios, Ace Hood sat down with XXL’s Shaheem Reid and told him about how music has helped him cope with his infants recent death. “This music is my getaway,” he says. “That’s why it means so much to me. The shit that I put out. Everything I put into this music, it’s meaningful. These types of records is why people love my music. It was hard. It’s hard for me to get in the booth and put forth what goes on in my personal life, it ain’t easy, man. That’s just my way of releasing. The way I know how to release it. Putting my message into something like ‘Hallucinations’.”
